Skype founders name new video start-up Joost

Continuing with the theme of the New Media, Cnet has an article http://news.com.com/Skype+founders+name+new+video+start-up+Joost/2100-1026_3-6150225.html   that Skype founders have named their “The Venice Project” ,… Joost!

Obviously, having redirecting their profits from the success of Skype into the online video distribution field, they now join YouTube, Apple and others in the continued development of this current and future media distribution platform.

The Big Media (the Old Guard), are ‘joostling’ for a position in this new redistribution model, but seem to be getting left behind in the digital dust.

So, all you idea guys out there, read the article,  as I’ve said before, there is ample opportunity to create your New Media product and become a participant, player, our even a New Media content provider with your ‘engenios’ new product or vlog show appearing on….what else?…. Joost!

 Lets all stay tuned.

During research for the MyGeniosidea Project, it became apparent that the uniqueness of the site’s yet to be fully disclosed idea and buisiness plan, would certainly have high international appeal. Idea people are certainly not contained by little black lines on a map!

My friend Toni at ‘A Free Lunch’ and in an e-mail discussion with Jurgen at a ‘Time To Write’,  have yielded suggestions and considerations to consider Russian, Chinese, as well as German as markets for the hugh untapped (or atleast undertapped)  markets of idea people looking for an outlet. I even have a sister who is fluent in French…(I was looking for some discounts anyway).

Jurgen advises that using professional translation companies would possibly be prohibitively expensive. One option would be to see if another blogger who is fluent in other language(s) would have an interest in collaborating with this project?

Any Genios linguists out there?

THE following articles attest to the direction of the New Media. For sometime now MyGeniosidea’s belief that a future marketplace would be developing where you wouldn’t necessarily require the backing of a Super-Network or Mega-Studio in order to excercise and market your creative juices.

If you have a dream, and idea, a project; if you have a skill, a voice, a face; if you just need one chance to pitch something to someone, somewhere; and if you believe in yourself enough that it is worth stepping out….well, the New Media is here. Cost is hardly an obstacle….and there is someone who is looking for what you’ve got!

DirecTV sees 100 HD channels, Net videos in ‘07

LAS VEGAS (Reuters) – Top U.S. satellite TV operator DirecTV Group Inc. (DTV.N: QuoteProfile , Research) plans to announce on Monday it has secured agreements for 60 high-definition channels from major networks, as part of a goal to launch 100 of them this year…..

…..Despite the gadget-heavy focus of the annual confab, where the $145 billion consumer electronics industry this year will trot out new devices that make connecting PCs to TVs easier, DirecTV will also focus on a topic of prior conventions.

“All of these add-ons that enable new features are fantastic,” Eric Shanks, executive vice president of DirecTV Entertainment, said in a phone interview ahead of the announcement.

But, “Where the world is going is into HD. None of the wireless products is going to bring you 100 channels of HD. Once you have standard definition content, these things help you share it.”……..

MediaZone helps regional TV go global on the Web

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Web broadcaster MediaZone said on Monday it is offering television programs from countries as diverse as China and Trinidad in a new Internet service that takes regional television global.

MediaZone, part of Africa’s largest media company, Naspers Ltd., has signed more than 20 new programming partners to participate in its “Social TV” service, including China’s Guangdong Southern TV, the U.S. Pentagon Channel and Voice of America.

Social TV streams programs on the Internet and allows viewers to chat with each other, or rate what they are watching, the company said, adding it will introduce the service at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Thanks for the encouragement Grace! You are a Genios now!

Put Your Dreams into Action
Week of 10/03/05

Remember when you were young and advanced some of your ideas to an older person? You possibly either received interested attention, amused tolerance, or a you’re-just-a-kid look.

Nothing destroys people’s self-confidence more than having their dreams and ideas met with scorn. Even well meaning parents who love their children fall into the trap of trying to save their children from disappointment by making them be too realistic too soon. So what if four-year-old Jenny probably won’t become a world-famous ballerina, as she firmly states she will? It’s important for people of all ages to have dreams and goals. There’s nothing wrong with a response such as, “It takes a lot of work to achieve your goal and there are many exciting careers and choices ahead. Just stay open and when the time’s right, you’ll know what God wants in your life.”

Did you have a special dream stamped out of you years ago or maybe even recently? The good news is: it’s still not too late. Think about it. Pray about it. Then do something about it.

Take courage and believe you can still achieve many wonderful things through the Holy Spirit’s leading.

It was interesting to read an interview with Bill Gates by Cnet News  (www.news.com) about the just announced home server device that Microsoft will be marketing.

Not that MyGeniosidea is into hardware and gadgetry per-se, but knowing the visionary individual that he is, Mr. Gates obviously believes that the future home will need some sort of central management device to interact with the increase in data storage, files, pictures, downloads, PC’s, I- phones, PDA’s etc.,  that will increasingly flood the worldwide markets.

What this means is that data content providers like MyGeniosidea will grow and increase exponentially as more and more people use the Internet for communications and entertainment.

MyGeniosidea sees this vision inline with it’s vision: That there is opportunity galore for new ideas that need to be brought forward to the global marketplace. This forum is the forerunner to just such a site. There are some incredible ideas that people have, that just need the right mechanism to connect the idea people with their (initially) virtual conterparts….and a sleeping giant can arise.

We are the beginning of just such a site. Thanks Bill, you think like I do. You must be a Genios too!

Future Media Tracking January 6, 2007

There is a great article at Reuters today (today.reuters.com) about the upcoming Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show.  Essentially the article spells out the future numbers for the demand of mobile TV and other devices.

MyGeniosidea is the pre-development arm for a new web-based venture that will, among other interests, be aimed at providing a content stream that will be structured to participate in and take advantage of these future revenue streams.

IBM’s recent excellent Report, ‘Media and Entertainment 2010′ (available for download from their site) clearly defines and lays out how things will change and where we will be over the next 4 -5 years.

MyGeniosidea is being structured and positioned now to become a player in the New Media as it unfolds over the next several years. We also have a niche angle that we will go after and carve out our own piece of that pie.

Although there is a $140 billion global consumer electronics market,  all those devices have to carry content for their consumers to watch, view, interact and participate. It all depends on how creative you want to be…. you might even be a Genios?!

Check out this fun link I picked up over at ‘A Free Lunch’. I try these out once in a while. It’s a kind of comic I.Q. course.  I don’t think I’m hot headed though…..bull headed, at times maybe….dumb headed at others……but still Genios headed!

Over the Christmas Season I had the pleasure of aligning two new collaborators with the Genios Project.

A talented ideas man, Toni, over at ‘A Free Lunch’ blog, and a veteran radio host, Joe from Arkansas, have been in contact and communication with me to discuss their unique perspectives on the site.

We look forward to having a very positive year, bringing the talent together, and bringing MyGeniosidea to the front of the global Internet stage.

Stay tuned……

I’ve downloaded a free podcasting software (Audacity) package for the forthcoming GeniosRadio show. Still working on the format and style that would work best but I guess the only way to learn is to just do it!

I’ve hired myself as the Official Program Director, (nobody else answered the ad to work for free) and have given myself a directive to formulate a plan to produce the content for a weekly 1/2 hour show for 52 weeks. This is being done on 100% pure guts….because I don’t even know how to operate the software yet!, let alone interview, upload, download…..Ah, the fun is just begun :) )

The plan for now is to initiate GeniosRadio podcasts off this site then move it over to the main web site after launch. This will give me some time to refine a show, create some bootstrap listeners, and use the feedback to polish it up before we go….mega GLOBAL….!

Move over Rush Limbaugh…

(My wife says I’m either a ‘Genios’, or a mad scientist).

I’ve been searching around,  compiling data on the launch of a streaming audio/pod-casting series that I will produce to tie-in with the subject matter of this site.  This will be followed or developed in tandem with a videoblog series. Any feedback on the setting up of these types of informational formats from the web community on this matter would be appreciated.

The initial plan is for a 1/2 hr. program once per week. I’ll be interviewing inventors/investors and other creative idea people and their collaborators, mining data on the efforts resulting in their success and failures at attracting contacts, contracts, bookings, deals,  and financial or support backing.

The series will be initiated by myself, with the forward plan to attact a qualified voice for the radio series, and face for the videoblog….anyone got a dream?!

Thanks.
